Self Drive ‘Tag-Along-Wilderness-Tours’

Drive your own or hire one of our 4WDs and take an adventurous, escorted ‘Tag-along-tour’ through the New Zealand outback and high country. Travel in the safety of a small convoy led by an expert guide to magnificent remote area’s such as the Ben Mc Leod Ranges, Remarkable Ranges, The Mc Kenzie Basin and the Rakaia River – to name but a few. Travel through High Country Stations and eat with locals at remote country pubs.

Previous Off-Road Experience Not Necessary
These tour’s have been designed so that the first day of the itinerary is one that can be driven by a competent driver with a full drivers license. You will be presented with a Starter Pack at the beginning of the trip, which includes some sound advice on off-road driving. The guide vehicle heads the convoy giving advice on various techniques to be used on the way by UHF two way radio, simple guidelines are reinforced as the tour progresses – we always bring our folk back alive!

Customized Tours
If you would like an itinerary different from our current treks we are able to plan trips for groups who have particular requests such as visiting a specific area in the South Island, extended tours up to 10 days or inclusion of more or less of certain types of terrain. We have access to all areas of the South Island and North Island so please don’t hesitate to contact us with a proposal. If self drive is not an attractive option we have experienced off-road operators available at very reasonable rates to drive your vehicle or a hire vehicle which we can also supply, see the hire rates for these further on.
