Korimako Lodge

Korimako Lodge is a luxury country style lodge in a spectacularly beautiful setting, offering comfortable accommodation for a maximum of five guests seeking the perfect hideaway 1.5 hours from Nelson. This is the perfect setting if you want to get into fly fishing for trout, explore the forest, raft and kayak the rivers and much more! Korimako is your wilderness retreat.

Your home away from home is a place to escape the crowds and enjoy the unique experience that is Korimako Lodge, this eco luxury lodge is set high on a ridge on 100 acres of private land overlooking the Matakitaki River – one of the best trout fishing rivers in the Murchison district.

Fishing
The fishing here is excellent, and being located in the heart of the Buller River is priceless. Spotting and stalking large brown trout in it’s crystal clear waters will give you a challenge to enjoy and a great reward in the end. Fishing here is usually dry fly nymphing to sighted large brown trout. To anglers unused to this style which involves spotting and stalking, then we recommend you get in some practice! Fishing with guides is teamwork at its best, especially in poor light – which is what their eyes have been trained for! They will give you expert advise on the best way to outwit that fish!

Accommodation
Korimako’s luxury accommodation features large ensuite bathrooms with generous towels, natural toiletries with essential oils and heated towel rails. Further more there is a refrigerator stocked with complimentary goodies, ironing and laundry facilities are available nearby and adjacent to the guest rooms is the bathhouse. The bathhouse features a double spa bath with wide sweeping windows which open out to the forest.

Tui SuperKing/Twin Room
This room is named from the New Zealand native bird called the Tui, it is distinctive for it’s white tufts under its throat and the beautiful songs it sings. There is a deep smokey blue feature wall along with furniture to complement the views from the room and private verandah.

Kaka Queen Room
The Kaka is a large parrot often seen and heard flying over the lodge to roost in the forest. This is a larger room with a Queen bed, elegant bed linen and features a private verandah with stunning views.

Kea Queen Room
The Kea is another large parrot which is often seen flying over Korimako Lodge to roost in the trees. This is a very beautiful but mischievous bird, taking a lot of interest in the vegetable garden!
The Kea Room is a smaller room featuring a Queen bed with a dark green feature wall, antique pine frame bed, private verandah with stunning views and has an ensuite bathroom.
