Fishing
Nestled in the Taharua valley South-East of Taupo, Poronui is a luxury fly fishing lodge offering guests the opportunity for legendary fishing in pristine surroundings. This is possibly the best fishing lodge in New Zealand, and has been favored for fishing and hunting in ancient Maori tribes. Fish in New Zealand’s crystal clear mountain waters surrounded by Beech and native ferns. Avid fishermen from all over the globe come to Poronui to test their skills against New Zealand’s large, and wily Brown and Rainbow Trout.

Hunting
The excitement in hunting sika during the rut season is special, and challenging. Infact, one of the most challenging species of deer to hunt, allowing you for a true trophy to admire. Poronui is where Sika were first liberated in New Zealand more than 100 years ago, remaining the centre of the Sika range. The free range hunting is second to none, more high quality free ranging trophies are taken on Poronui than any other New Zealand property. With 3,000 acres of game estate you can come across high quality red stags, rusa deer and sika and many more hunting species. The roar of massive red stags signals the start of the trophy season in March, and dominate the hunting scene until mid April. Sika carries through until May and the gruff grunt of rutting Fallow joins the mix in May and June. 

Accommodation
