Rainbow Springs & Kiwi Wildlife Park

Rainbow Springs

Spread over 22 acres of parkland, Rainbow Springs offers a truly unique experience and is a must-see for anyone wanting to get to know New Zealand’s wonderful environment and animals, day or night. Kiwi Encounter is adjacent to Rainbow Springs and enables visitors to see “conservation in action” as never before, a special combination of natural history and wildlife conservation.

It brings into view for the first time in New Zealand all the expertise developed at Rainbow Springs over many years of raising kiwi chicks from eggs, for ultimate release back into the wild. The kiwi is simply unique and commands a position all of its own in the bird world. It exists nowhere but New Zealand and its evolution is all due to New Zealand’s isolation. However, our national symbol is an endangered species and Kiwi Encounter is playing its part to bring our treasured icon back from the brink of extinction on the New Zealand mainland.
