Relive the elegance of turn-of-the-century travel with a cruise on Queenstowns iconic vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw. Launched in 1912, the TSS Earnslaw is the largest and grandest vessel ever to ply Lake Wakatipu. Today, the TSS Earnslaw is believed to be the only coal-fired passenger-carrying vessel still operating in the southern hemisphere. Highlights include a guided tour of the TSS Earnslaw with our on board historian.
Disembark from your TSS Earnslaw cruise to a taste of New Zealand’s farming lifestyle at Walter Peak High Country Farm. Situated on Lake Wakatipu’s south-western scenic shores, this farm is the perfect place to spend a relaxing few hours. Our rural host will meet you from the TSS Earnslaw and take you for a walking tour of the farmyard.
The first stop is the holding pens, where you can help feed the sheep and deer, and even get up close to the Scottish Highland Cattle. Then stroll through the lakeside gardens to the Colonel’s Homestead for a traditional high country morning or afternoon tea. Afterwards the farmer will lead you over to the shearing shed where you can watch the farm dogs rounding up sheep from the hill paddocks, and see the farmer shear a sheep.
Explore Walter Peak High Country Farm the traditional way, by horseback, or by guided or unguided cycling excursion, BBQ lunch and dinner cruises can also be added to your Walter Peak experience.
