This astounding alpine wilderness hike is spectacular, located in the heart of the Southern Alps is where you will find Arthur’s Pass National Park, an incredible diversity of flora and landscape. Walk through eastern beech clad hills and tussock valleys to the luxuriant rain forest in the west.
You start your journey from Christchurch in the famous scenic TranzAlpine train and into the National Park, your guide will take you on a 4 hour hike through this land to experience the sub alpine mountains and introduce you to the unique flora and fauna.

This tour is an average of 4.5 hours walking, the track is fairly well formed but there are some sections which involve walking on rocks, over tree roots and through running water. The total vertical climb is approx. 200m. Although hiking experience isn’t necessary we do recommend you have a good level of fitness to be able to enjoy this walk.
Meals: Lunch will be provided which includes sandwiches, 2 pieces of fruit, sweet muffin, chocolate treat, small carton of juice & small bottle of water. In addition to this there will be chocolate brownies available at the refreshment stops during the day. We will liaise you on the morning of the tour as to the content of the sandwich and any dietary requirements you may have.
