Experience the wild just half an hour outside of Auckland’s busy city in the Waitakere Ranges Regional park. This breathtaking rainforest is covered with typical New Zealand flora and fauna with plenty of walking trails. We will be visiting the Arataki Visitor Information Centre which hosts breathtaking panoramic views from the Tasman Sea to the Pacific Ocean. Absorb the area’s history and admire the magnificent traditional Maori carvings which stand guard there.
Continue further west with your knowledgeable guide to the rugged west coast where you’ll experience the isolation of the area. You’ll get the opportunity to stroll on an awe-inspiring beach of our typical west coast black sand and the clear ocean breeze. You’ll get to have a kiwi-style picnic lunch at one of the scenic locations on this tip. Journey to an area of untouched original rainforest with mature 1,000 year old kauri trees. New Zealand has existed for millions of years separate from the rest of the world and it has evolved in isolation to produce its own unique flora and fauna. 70% of our unique plants are found nowhere else in the world except here!
