4.5 Hour Geothermal Wonderland Tour

Rotorua is filled with the wonders of geothermal activity; this tour will show you the best of earths forces of nature. Take an invigorating hike through Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland and the Waimangu Volcanic Valley (the youngest geothermal system), see NZ’s largest boiling mud lake, discover Lady Knox Geyser erupting daily at 10.15am to heights of 20 meters!

Sculptured out of volcanic activity and thousands of years in the making, Wai-O-Tapu is considered to be New Zealand’s most colourful and diverse geothermal sightseeing attraction. Then enjoy the Waimangu Volcanic Valley nature walk amidst a stunning volcanic landscape with spectacular views of hot crater lakes, steaming cliffs, hissing fumeroles, colourful silica terraces, rare thermally adapted plants and the opportunity to see some of NZ’s native birdlife.

This tour is an average of 2 hours walking, the track is fairly even, although hiking experience isn’t necessary we do recommend you have a good level of fitness to be able to enjoy this walk.
