Northland

Northland’s story is a story of two coastlines. Much of the coastline remains unspoiled but on the west coast it is rugged and soulful and simple while on the east coast it is relatively more sophisticated and urbane.

Northland is a region that will stimulate every sense. Not only is it the birthplace of the nation, where Europeans first settled New Zealand, but Northland is also home to giant kauri forests, sub tropical rain forests and miles of stunning coastline which includes the Bay of Islands and capped off with iconic Cape Reinga.

The Bay of Islands is the finest maritime park in New Zealand including 144 islands, secluded bays, and an abundance of marine life including marlin, whales, penguins, dolphins, gannets and many other species. It is one of the most picturesque and popular holiday sites in New Zealand. It combines great fishing, diving, sailing and other water sports with some of New Zealand’s most significant historic sites.
