4WD Safari to Cape Reinga (Lands End) and 90 Mile Beach
This unique adventure takes you north to the very top of New Zealand. On this journey you encounter the Puketi Kauri forest where magnificent ancient Kauri stand silent and majestic in their original habitat. Some of these Kauris are amongst the oldest and largest living trees in the world – some dating to 2000 years. Continuing onwards towards the slim finger of land at New Zealand’s upper-most point, you track along the west coast and the gateway to 90 Mile Beach, with its pristine white sands and miles and miles of continuous beach being overshadowed by its gigantic sand dunes. After making our way along this huge stretch of sand we arrive at our northern-most destination – Cape Reinga. Here the green waters of the Tasman Sea meet the blue of the Pacific, the sea meets the land and the sky covers all. This is a spiritual place, for Cape Reinga is where the souls of the Maori deceased leave Aotearoa (New Zealand) and swim across the Pacific Ocean to Hawaiiki – the Polynesian spiritual homeland..
