Tongariro Lodge

Along the legendary Tongariro River – on New Zealand’s North Island – you will find the luxury Tongariro Lodge. Enjoy some of the best New Zealand trout fishing and New Zealand outdoor activities right here. The Tongariro Lodge is located on the door step of the World Heritage Tongariro National Park.

Established in 1982, the lodge has a superb reputation for gourmet dining and fine accommodation. It offers an old fashioned comfort and style combined with friendly personal service. This true lodge atmosphere is second to none, sit in front of an open fire over a four course meal after a long day’s fishing, sharing your stories among new friends.

Fishing
This fishing loge has access to over 40 rivers and 3 lakes, offering the most diverse range of rainbow and brown trout fishing. Have a go at wilderness heli-fishing for the ultimate experience available from October to April. This will give you special access to large areas of private land all to yourself for the day. The Tongariro River is the most famous fly fishing river in New Zealand, we recommend using one of their knowledgeable guides to get you special access to many rivers which run through private land, providing the trout fishing experience of a lifetime. They run their own rafts, four wheel drive vehicles and boats as well as helicopter access.

Hunting
The Lodge is ideally positioned to sample the many hunting areas available in Central North Island. With excellent bird shooting for duck, turkey, quail and pheasant available in May to August and free range hunting in back country – you can’t go wrong! Hunting is available all year round, guides will provide all rifles, equipment and 4WD vehicles as well as helicopter options.

Accommodation
There are 28 separate and private guest accommodation on the banks of the Tongariro River, each chalet offers private facilities along with it’s own sunny terrace showcasing the fantastic views over Tongariro River or mountains beyond.

2-5 Bedroom Villas
Hideaway in complete luxury in your appointed 2-5 bedroom villas providing space along with quality furnishings. Your open plan lounge and dining areas will be ideal for moving all your gear around. Each villa has a private bathroom with ensuite as well as a full kitchen and laundry.

1 Bedroom Chalets
Enjoy the original Tongariro Lodge chalets as a cheaper option. These Chalets are stylish and well appointed featuring comfortable king beds, tea and coffee making facilities, TV and internet. Each Chalet has a drying cupboard for skis or waders.
